In some places, and in many developed nations, it is not legal to own various weapons, their illegality mostly based of their degree of lethality and danger to the wider public. It is understandable why a country where guns are illegal won’t allow tank ownership, for instance.

These sound about as sadistic as they are. They are not from a scene out of Mad Max (any of them), or some other film about a nihilistic and brutal world, but a deadly weapon you can purchase online and own legally. It is a whip fashioned out of chains and/or interlocking sharpened disc blades, the slashing motion can inflict bone snapping and lacerating damage to anything in its way. There are versions, like the Wushu Chain Whip used by professional martial artists in traditional martial practice consisting of several metal rods, joined end-to-end by rings forming a flexible chain, mimicking a whip. Or there is the all American version that you can buy for under $50 consisting of:
- A wire wrapped solid metal handle
- 21 perfectly constructed, stainless steel discs
- Reach is a length of 46 ½ inches
Deadly weapon in trained hands, even deadlier in untrained ones!

Umbrella Sword

Didn’t James Bond have one of these? It’s a weapon no Englishman should be without, except it probably isn’t legal in the UK, but it is in the USA. The least intimidating looking weapon on this list, but no less lethal. This actual sword blade, which would make fine work of your Thanksgiving turkey or any passing swashbuckler, is sheathed in the handle of a functional umbrella. There’s one way to stay dry and not-dead all rolled into one.

Katana

Not the popular, aluminium framed high-speed bike, Suzuki’s iconic Katana, the Katana on this list is the very object the bike was named after - a traditional Japanese sword. The swords consists of a 2 foot, slightly curved blade, of the kind wielded by Marvel’s character Deadpool, Morpheus in “The Matrix” and Uma Thurman’s yellow clad character in “Kill Bill”... now you get the idea. Deadly weapon. Carrying one would have you in some really cool company. No further explanation needed. You can’t carry a sword openly in most countries, but they are legal to own, and carry around, in the U.S.

Crossbow

The legality of the crossbow changes from state to state, with some states requiring a license to own one and Oregon is the only state in the U.S. where you can not legally own a crossbow. It’s a fairly expensive purchase, but you can purchase a crossbow, or many, online, Like gunpowder, it was first made in in China and was used as a weapon of assassination during the middle-ages, owing to its long range and silent delivery.

Grenade Launcher

If you need better precision and range for you grenade shooting needs, a real, army style grenade launcher is what you should invest in. As long as you register it with the Federal government - these are big boys’ toys after all. We don’t want some school kid taking one to his next school shooting.

The M134 General Electric Minigun

https://c1.staticflickr.com

Though it may sound like a cake decorating appliance, this little weapon can cause some real damage in trained hands. Not all that heavy to carry - a strapping young man should be able to lift and maneuver the 80 pound gun, that isn’t that mini at all, with not much effort. The mini is a bit of a misnomer as it refers to any externally powered ( in this case, electric motor) rotary-style gun of rifle caliber, as opposed to it’s bigger brother which fires rotary rounds of auto cannon shells.

Unless you’re practicing to really win at bootcamp and make your mark as a marksman in the army, or become really good at hunting, owning a sniper rifle could be a bit of a waste for your ordinary hunter. This precision weapon, fitted with a telescopic optic sight to enable accuracy on the part of a shooter takes many hours of training to hit your target every time.

Ninja Foot Spikes

If you are living in Massachusetts, California or New York, where Ninja Foot Spikes are banned you’re going to have to find another way to scale walls. A real aid to trained assassins and ninjas in the middle-ages, it’s as simples as strapping these attachments to your ninja stealth shoes, and you’re good to take on Spiderman.

Cannon

https://upload.wikimedia.org

If you are looking for real firepower, and we’re not talking some pithy sniper rifle here, think bigger, and get yourself a cannon. The actual artillery doesn’t need to be registered with the government, but the gunpowder, being an actual explosive, has to be bought from a from a licensed explosive dealer, and your state may require you to limit your purchase under 50 pounds. You can still cause a lot of mayhem with 50 pounds of explosive. You can purchase the cannon online. Gunpowder sold separately.

Flamethrower

These were quite popular in the 80s the cinema circuit, as great introduction scene to many an action movie. Essentially a long tube spraying igniting fuel on its target, these weapons have been around since about 500 B.C but have come a long way in design and lethality since then. By World War I they were a weapon of choice in certain conditions. Very difficult to regulate as definitions of the weapon need to make allowances for kitchen appliances and industrial uses.

Spearguns

Amazon.com

One is almost sure that anyone carrying a speargun out of the water cannot have good intent. Even in the water, actually. There are probably dozens of hunting uses for a spear. Many tribal societies probably thought spears were a good idea - lethal but light. In the US some states have regulations on when you can use them, but ownership is not regulated and you can buy one if there is a store that will sell it to you.

A Bazooka or Rocket Launcher

https://static.webshopapp.com

Why an ordinary citizen would need a weapon that fires small rockets boggles the imagination, but there are clearly reasons why it is legal to own one in the U.S.
