Even though he’s now 81 years of age, it’s impossible not to think of George Takei as the original Hikaru Sulu from Star Trek. He and Brad Altman made their relationship public in 2005 – 18 years after they had started dating!

They married in 2008 and have been happily together ever since. They were the first same-sex couple to appear on The Newlyweds Game, coming in first place and winning $10,000 for a charity of their choice.


Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita

Jesse Tyler Ferguson rose to fame in 2009 as one half of Modern Family’s most fabulous couples. Mikita is a world-renowned lawyer and together they started the non-profit charity ‘Tie The Knot’ which raises funds in support of same-sex marriage.

The symbol used was their famous bow ties which they both wear. They finally got married in 2013 and requested that guests do not buy them gifts but instead make a donation to the foundation.


Anderson Cooper and Benjamin Maisani

Anderson Cooper has been on our screens on CNN for years but only publicly came out in 2012. He and Benjamin Maisani were partners from 2009 but sadly ended their relationship in 2018 after nine years together.

Kendrell Bowman And Anthony Wayne

These two have fairly different professions but it must be what makes them so compatible. Anthony Wade had a breakout role on Broadway in 2011 when he stared in Anything Goes. Kendrell Bowman, however, works out of the public eye as a creative image consultant and stylist for celebrities.

Neil Patrick Harris became a breakout star for his role as Barney in How I Met Your Mother. These two kept their engagement a secret for five whole years but have since celebrated their marriage in the public eye.

His husband, David Burtka, is an American actor and professional chef. They even appeared in the famous sitcom together when Burtka guest-starred as Scooter. The couple has a set of twins, Harper and Gideon, who were born via surrogacy.


Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni

Cynthia Nixon stole our hearts as Miranda Hobbes in HBO’s Sex and the City. Today, she rose to prominence as a political activist and shining star in the LGBT community. She was originally married to Danny Mozes, but found love with Christine Marinoni – who she married in 2011.

Elton John and David Furnish

It was perhaps the worst-kept secret in Hollywood that Elton John was gay. He and David Furnish have been together since 1993 and entered into a civil partnership in 2005. Once same-sex marriage was legalized in England and Wales, they finally married in 2014 – 21 years after they met.

Furnish is a Canadian filmmaker and former advertising executive, and together they share two children through a surrogate. Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John were born in 2010 and 2013 respectively.

After years of rumors, singer Ricky Martin came out as gay in 2010. This was following the birth of his twin boys in 2008 via surrogate. The Livin’ La Vida Loca singer settled down with Jwan Yosef in 2017.

Melissa Etheridge and Linda Wallem

Linda Wallem is perhaps best known for her work on That 70s Show, whereas Melissa Etheridge is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and activist. Strangely, these two were born on the exact same day and married two days after their 53rd birthday in 2014.

RuPaul and Georges LeBar

RuPaul has had a busy few years ever since RuPaul’s Drag Race and its large popularity among young people. He keeps a fairly private personal life, but he has been with his partner, Georges LeBar, since 1994. The couple got married in 2014 and have been together for 24 years!

Everyone’s favorite children’s TV psychic Raven-Symone dated AzMarie Livingston for three years before sadly calling it quits. As well as her run as Raven in Disney’s That’s So Raven, she was also a co-host on The View.
